Dan Henk Oil Painting Seminar

Some art experience is recommended, although not required. A brief overview and discussion of art techniques involved and working within the medium of oils, followed by a short question and answer session. Each attendee is given a booklet with a more in-depth description of artistic principles, including painting from life, reference, the imagination, or some combination of all three. Working within the context of oils is also addressed, as well as a few other artistic approaches. Dan will teach advanced approaches to painting by working through a piece that already has basic preliminary steps in place. Strategies and methods are talked about as the work progresses, and questions can be asked at any point. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own works, and paint alongside. Their pieces will be given whatever attention is requested and advice will be freely dispensed. The goal is to provide a glimpse into the world of oil painting for the novice, and to bolster existing abilities in the more adroit pupil.

Some supplies will be provided but students are also encouraged to bring their own materials if they so choose.
