YOUR REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL FULL PAYMENT IS MADE & PARTICIPATING ARTIST PORTFOLIO LINKS HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED FOR REVIEW. IF YOU HAVEN’T PAID, YOU HAVEN’T REGISTERED. WE WILL ONLY HAND OUT ARTIST PASSES TO ARTISTS WITH APPROVED PORTFOLIOS, SO PLEASE INCLUDE ALL INFORMATION IN YOUR INITIAL REGISTRATION. IF YOU HAVE ANY ARTISTS THAT ARE “TO BE DETERMINED” AT TIME OF REGISTRATION, YOU MUST SUBMIT THAT INFORMATION BEFORE THE CONVENTION IN ORDER TO RECEIVE ALL YOUR PASSES AT THE EVENT. REGISTRATION IS NON REFUNDABLE.

BPHC  PERMIT REQUIREMENTS: ALL BODY ART (TATTOOING, PIERCING, ETC.)  MUST APPLY FOR A TEMPORARY BODY ART PRACTITIONER LICENSE FROM THE BOSTON PUBLIC HEALTH COMMISSION (BPHC). Important information for attending artists:

You must apply for a temporary body art practitioner license with the BPHC to work as a body artist at the Boston Tattoo Convention, unless you already have a current BPHC Body Art Practitioner License. Please submit your application, all required documents, and permit fee online or by mail as soon as possible to ensure your application is received and processed on time.

How to Apply for a BPHC Body Art Practitioner License:

  1. Prepare physical or electronic copies of the following documents to attach or upload with your application:
  • A valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state ID)
  • Certificate of completion of bloodborne pathogen course
  • Certificate of completion of first aid/CPR course
  • Certificate of completion of anatomy & physiology course (only if applying for a piercing license)
  • Proof of one or more years of body art experience such as current/recent body art practitioner license(s) , your home city/state/country or other documents (business license or similar) showing you have been practicing body art professionally for one year or more

    • Check or money order for the $75.00 permit fee made out to the Boston Public Health Commission
    • Completed BPHC Application form found here
    • Copy of First Aid/CPR training certificate
    • Copy of bloodborne pathogens training certificate
    • Copy of anatomy & physiology training certificate (if applying to do piercing)
    • Copy of your current body artist license/permit or other proof of professional practice such as a business license or tax certificate
    • Copy of your photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport)
